A 64-bit processor and operating system are required. Windows 10 appears in the minimum tier, but Frontier warns that ongoing compatibility is not guaranteed after Microsoft’s end of support.
What performance do these tiers mean?
Frontier describes the minimum tier as capable of more than 30 FPS at Medium settings in a well-developed zoo, and the recommended tier as 30 FPS at High. The FAQ does not state the test resolution, zoo population or exact benchmark scene, so these figures are guidance rather than a promise for every park.
Large animal and guest populations increase simulation work for the CPU. Frontier notes that lowering graphics settings may have little effect when processing load is the bottleneck. A stronger GPU alone does not establish how a very large zoo will perform.
How to compare your PC
- Record the exact processor and graphics-card model, installed RAM and free storage. On Windows, Task Manager’s Performance tab and Settings → System → About can help identify them.
- Compare against the named hardware in the table; VRAM capacity alone does not establish GPU performance.
- For a laptop, identify the mobile GPU and its power limits. A similarly named desktop card is not a reliable one-to-one comparison.
- Install on an SSD if possible. It is required for the recommended tier.
We have not run a release-build benchmark or verified unlisted GPUs. This page is a specification comparison, not a compatibility test for your machine.
Mac, Steam Deck and lower-powered devices
Frontier has no announced macOS release. We have not verified Steam Deck compatibility or Proton performance. Neither should be inferred from the Windows requirements.
The official FAQ lists GeForce NOW as an alternative for players without powerful local hardware. Check current service availability, supported store and connection requirements separately.
