Which transport modes are in the game?
| Mode | What is confirmed |
|---|---|
| Trains | Steam to high-speed; the French TGV is confirmed. Line-specific train priorities and distinct track types. |
| Trams and light rail | Passenger trams, light rail, underground tram tracks and new dedicated cargo trams. |
| Buses | Passenger road transport through every era. |
| Trucks | Road freight; the cargo dev blog pairs each cargo category with a matching vehicle body. |
| Ships | From paddle steamers to supertankers; the TS Queen Mary is a pre-order bonus. |
| Aircraft | From early aircraft to the latest jet planes. |
| Helicopters | New for passengers and freight. |
Is there a full locomotive list?
Not from the developer. Urban Games has published totals and highlighted models such as the TGV and Norwegian rail vehicles for the new subarctic climate, but not a full roster with capacities, speeds and years. Community lists built from game files can change with patches, so we do not reproduce their numbers. When you compare two locomotives, read capacity, top speed, running cost and availability years in the in-game vehicle menu for your own save.
Eras and start year
Games can start in 1900; Urban Games said it chose the start point most players already used. Vehicles unlock as the years pass and age over time: the game adds wear and maintenance, so an old fleet costs more to keep running. A launch review reports start decades from 1900 to 2030 in the map settings.
Deluxe and pre-order vehicles
The Deluxe Edition adds 11 "legendary" vehicles, plus three hand-crafted maps and four wild animals. Pre-orders include the TS Queen Mary ship. See prices by edition.
How many vehicles does a line need?
A bigger or faster vehicle is not automatically better. Work backwards from what the line must move: target per month ÷ what one vehicle moves per month, rounded up. One vehicle's monthly capacity is its load per trip × completed round trips. Our cargo line planner does this with your in-game numbers and compares two vehicle choices side by side.
