What the developer has actually changed
| Date / version | Reported change | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| 16 October · 1.0.1.7 | Party invitations; further crash, connection, map and audio fixes. | Install the available update before diagnosing an old symptom. |
| 14 October · 1.0.1.4 | Private matches, false anti-cheat kicks, no-audio and joining/crash fixes. | Select an audio output device; distinguish private rooms from parties. |
| 12 October · 1.0.10 | Voice chat, anti-cheat, spawn and saving/progression-display fixes. | Review voice preferences and re-check the exact symptom on your build. |
Version names are preserved as the developer wrote them; dates determine this order. “Fixed” describes the developer’s patch claim, not a guarantee that every similar problem is resolved. Follow the latest checked announcement for context.
The 14 October note suggests fully exiting Steam through Steam → Exit and reopening it if an update is not arriving. Save other work or game sessions first. That note’s version 1.0.1.4 has since been followed by the 16 October announcement; do not seek out an older build just to match it.
No audio: select an output device first
- Open Hood Warfare 2 Settings and select your intended audio output device. This is the developer’s published workaround.
- Test game audio again before joining another match.
- If it is still silent, check that the same headphones or speakers play audio outside the game and that the game is not muted in your system mixer.
- If you changed USB, Bluetooth or monitor audio devices, re-check the selected output and restart the game once.
Step one is from the 14 October patch; the later steps are general PC audio checks, not additional developer-confirmed fixes. Voice input is a separate issue: review the voice-chat preferences if you hear the game but others cannot hear you.
Party invites, private matches and join failures
To enter public games together: use the party feature announced in version 1.0.1.7. To keep a session closed: use the password-only private-match feature announced in version 1.0.1.4. We have not verified every menu label in the running game, so this guide does not invent a button-by-button path.
- Confirm everyone has the sequel, not the original Hood Warfare Steam app.
- Compare versions, finish pending downloads and restart the game after updating.
- For a private match, have the host confirm the room and password; for a party, confirm the invitation was accepted before queuing.
- If one person fails, write down whether it happens at invitation, queue, map loading or after spawn. If everyone fails, record that too.
Those checks help narrow a report. They do not establish a server outage. A busy Steam chart also cannot prove a particular region or room is healthy.
Crashes and anti-cheat kicks: collect a reproducible report
The 14 October update specifically reports fixes for false anti-cheat kicks, and the 16 October update reports more crash and connection work. Update first. If the issue persists, keep the exact error message instead of treating every disconnect as the same bug.
As general troubleshooting, compare your machine with the publisher’s requirements, close unnecessary background applications and retest one change at a time. Do not disable anti-cheat or install an unofficial “fix” executable. A crash, a kick and a ban notice require different evidence.
What to include in a useful bug report
- Game title and installed version.
- Local date, time and time zone of the problem.
- Exact error text, with private information removed.
- Map/mode, and whether it was a bot, party or private session.
- Whether all friends were affected or only your PC.
- Windows version, CPU, GPU and RAM; changes already tried.
- Short reproduction steps, and whether it happens every time.
Use the game’s Steam discussions to find current reports and developer responses. A report of one successful workaround is not proof that it will resolve your machine’s issue.
FAQ
- What is the latest patch checked here?
- Version 1.0.1.7, announced on 16 October 2026. This is a dated check, not a live version monitor.
- Why does Hood Warfare 2 have no sound?
- The developer’s 14 October note directs affected players to choose an audio output device in Settings. Other possible causes need individual diagnosis.
- Can friends play in a private lobby?
- The 14 October patch added password-only private matches. The later 16 October party system is for inviting friends and joining games together.
- Should I turn off anti-cheat to stop kicks?
- No. Install the current update, retain the exact error and report the continuing issue. The developer reported a false-kick fix on 14 October; bypassing anti-cheat is not a troubleshooting step.
